This week was by far the most exciting one yet – we finally built a functional technological model!

What did we do? 🎯

We assembled the laser-cut parts and connected the motors – and now the model actually collapses just as we envisioned. At first, we were worried the collapse wouldn't feel dramatic enough. But during our usability testing, we discovered it totally worked: all participants instantly understood that "something bad" had happened to the robot – it looked like it got damaged or stopped working. That moment of confusion and surprise? Exactly what we were aiming for.

3D printing

We also experimented with 3D printing for the first time! The first attempt was a total fail (to be honest, it came out as a melted mess 😅), but on the second try, we succeeded in printing a proper casing for our motors – and it felt amazing.

What’s next?

  • Figure out how to fit the motors into a clean and functional box

  • Add vibration mechanics, not just collapse

  • And most importantly – make it automatic! Instead of relying on a “Wizard of Oz” setup, we want it to react based on weight or some smart external trigger

We’re definitely on a roll 🚀
